Tenges said mounted unit officers asked if they could "park" their horses on the church's grassy area in between patrols and, because of occasional vandalism at the church during Musikfest, church officials readily agreed. The church grounds on Main Street are part of the notorious Musikfest trouble spot police nicknamed "Pubertyplatz." For years, youths have used that area and the "S-curve" of Main Street as a hangout spot during the festival, a hotspot for underage drinking arrests and brawls. That's how Tom Tenges, president of the Bethlehem mounted unit's nonprofit group, said he got to know Bethlehem's mounted officers when he was asked to help at Central Moravian Church a few years ago during Musikfest. "But it's something we have to be prepared for."Īnd, unless something bad happens and the horses have to don their riot gear, Bethlehem's mounted unit will likely get the typical ooohs and aaahs it's accustomed to during Musikfest, when it patrols the festival grounds along with the units from the state police and Lancaster. "It's something you hope you never have to use," Sarnicky said. He said both Lancaster and state police have similar protective gear for their equines.

John Sarnicky, the head of the mounted unit, said it's typical equipment for a mounted unit. It's a helmet and protective gear that just happens to be for horses."Īlthough the gear may prompt some glances, police Capt. "People look at this equipment and we realize it's this tactical-looking stuff," Urban said. Robert Urban said while he understood people may have concerns about the horse riot gear, it's just another tool used by police for protection. That is, until the second to last mission, which is literal hell on Earth.Brooks and mounted officer Michael Leaser rode the horses in a slow trot around the officers, telling them the ride would get the animals used to the sights, sounds and smells they may encounter in a riot.ĭuring the training, Sgt. Should take around an hour to get through. I wasn't even holding the remote in some missions because they don't actually do anything to rebel against the police force.

The police mode is quite literally as simple as walk across the screen and block the protesters. The achievement itself will unlock so long as you have a violence score of 0 on each mission, and in fact it unlocked early for me, after doing the 3 four mission campaigns (Indignados, No Tav, Keratea) and the first 3 missions of the last, 5 mission long campaign (Arab Springs)

Go ahead and add "tactical' units, as they have the most people in it and where otherwise the most effective in my experiences.
RIOT CIVIL UNREST WHAT TO DO ON HORSE MISSION FREE
On the unit customization screen, feel free to leave everything as is, however some missions only start with 4/6 or 5/6 units. Note that you have to let the timer run through, and not just push off the protesters from an area on the ground like in some other objectives. Some objectives are also 'keep protesters off land for 5 minutes' in which you just have to keep them as far off-screen as possible. Objectives are usually marked by darkened circles/rectangles on the floor (i hadn't noticed them when i first started playing, and was wondering why i kept failing). Objectives may vary, but they are all as simple as "walk the police to the other side of the screen." There are a few different missions, for example one has you destroying tents, so just walk each group up to each tent to knock them all over one by one. They can all move freely for a few seconds after telling them to do so, meaning you can hold a direction and cycle a trigger to make all units stampede across screen. making sure to use or to get each group moving. Pick the first mission from the right-hand column, and once the game starts, simply walk each group of police officers to the protesters. Go to Story Mode, put the game to 'Too Easy,' then pick one of the campaigns to go (I personally started with No Tav, then Indignados, then Keratea, and finally Arab Springs, but to each their own). This is significantly easier to get through compared to the Rioters story mode.
